Bombers Rebound Against The Mustangs

The Flin Flon Bombers were able to respond after their first regulation loss of the season and beat a good Melfort Mustang club 5 to 4 last night.

After dropping a tight 3 to 2 game against Melville on Saturday, the Bombers had a good start to last night's game.

Justin Lies and Kylynn Olafson were able to get to James Venne in the first period and gave them some momentum for the rest of the night.

Even though the Bombers did blow a couple of two goal leads in the game they were always in control.

Other goals came from Adam McNutt, Alexi Sylvestre and Carter Anderson who  would score his 7th in 7 games which stood  up as the game winner.

McNutt really seems to be finding his groove and has been one of their best players the past couple of games and is starting to look very comfortable on the Bomber blue line.

Rhett Hamilton, David Rioux and Ryan Duguay scored a pair for the Mustangs in a losing cause. Duguay is having a great season and leads the league with 14 goals so far this year.

Give the Mustangs credit, they  battled hard for having 7 of their regulars out of the line-up last night  including two of their better offensive players in Zac Sommers and Aidyn Hutchinson.

Flin Flon's penalty kill  was great once again last night and only gave up the one pp goal on 6 chances. The Bombers went 2 for 5 on the man advantage.

The Bombers handilly out shot Melfort 44 to 26 and improve to a league best 14-1-1 and the Stangs will drop to 10-5-1.

Flin Flon  continues  to have the league's best penalty kill at a staggering 89.4 % and was one of the biggest reasons for a key win last night.

The Bombers will now enjoy an 11 day break and won't be back on the ice til November the 13th when they travel to Warman to face the Weyburn Red Wings at the SJHL Showcase.
