Bombers Will Pay Tribute To Gerry Hart Tonight

The Flin Flon Bombers will hit the ice for a pair of games against the Kindersley Klippers this weekend and tonight will be a very special night.

The Bombers are going to pay tribute to one of their greatest players in their history  Gerry Hart who passed  away this past spring.

Hart suited up for the Bombers for 4 seasons between 1965 and 1969 before moving on to play in the NHL for 13 seasons suiting up for Detroit, the New York Islanders, Quebec Nordiques and St .Louis Blues.

Hart was an inaugural member of the Islanders and played the bulk of his NHL career with that glorious franchise between 1972 and 79 and would return to Long Island after he retired to launch an ice rink.

Gerry was very proud of his Flin Flon heritage not only as a player but a person who really loved his home community.

We caught up to the Head Coach and GM of the Bombers Mike Reagan earlier today and he said this will be a very important night for the entire organization and community.

" I think that it's going to be a very special night not just for the Bombers but for the community and the Hart family. Liz, Jordy and Ryan Kemp are here in town with friends and other family. We want to make sure we honor Gerry in the right way and we have spoken to the players about performing here tonight and making it a memorable night."

Puck drop is 7:30 and there will be a tribute video with family on the ice just prior to puck drop.

We will be on FLO Hockey tonight and back on radio tomorrow with the Great North GM Coach's Show at 7:10 and play by play at 7:30.

Tomorrow night in the second intermission we will have a special interview with Gerry's long time friend and former Flin Flonner Tom Gilmore as we pay tribute to this former great Bomber and person.
