For the first time since 2019, the Flin Flon Bombers won every game on their Southern road swing which wrapped up with a 2 to 1 shoot out win in Weyburn on Saturday night.

 

Flin Flon came into the game out scoring their opponents 17 to 1 in the first three games. I give Weyburn a lot of credit they did a masterful job on keeping the Bombers high octane offense in check limiting them to just 29 shots.

 

After a scoreless first period, newly acquired Carter Anderson scored his second in as many nights to put the Bombers on the board early in the second.

 

Blake Betson answered just a few minutes later to tie the game at one after two.

 

The two goalies battled it out the rest of the way and neither team could score in the third period or OT.

 

Flin Flon would go the shoot out for the first time this year and two of their snipers Jacob Vockler and Alexi Sylvestre would beat Dazza Mitchell to clinch the victory.

 

Kenny Marquart stopped three of the four Wing shooters with Jacob Visentini the only player who was able to score.

 

Marquart was fantastik and ended up with 27 saves on 28 shots against a very good team in a tough building. Dazza Mitchell who is one of the top tenders in the league wound up with 28 saves on 29 shots.

 

The Bombers look very impressive this year and sit first overall at 9-0-1 and have scored a whopping 59 goals in 10 games. They have four players leading the league in scoring with Jacob Vockler, Alexi Sylvestre, Noah Houle and Justin Lies combining for 71 points so far.

 

They have also been great defensively only giving up 21, which is third best in the league.

 

Flin Flon will now get a few days rest and return to the Whitney Forum to host the Kindersley Klippers this weekend. Friday will be a very special night as the Bombers will pay tribute to former player and ambassador Gerry Hart who passed away this past Spring.
