It was the perfect start to the road trip last night for the Flin Flon Bombers who went into Yorkton and shut out the Terriers 5 to 0.
Despite being outshot 17 to 10 in the opening period, it was the Bombers opening up the scoring when Jacob Vockler found the back of the net for his league leading 10th of the season.
That would stand up as the game winner with Flin Flon getting plenty of insurance from Brock Mueller, Liam Bridger and a pair from Alexi Sylvestre to give him 5 on the season.
It was a terrific performance from Harmon Laser Hume who stopped all 35 shots fired in his direction for his first shutout of the year.
The Bombers beat Blake Sittler 5 times on 33 shots to improve to 6-0-1 on the year and are now first place overall, one point up on Melfort with the Mustangs having a game in hand.
Yorkton will fall to 3-3-1.
The road trip will continue tonight as the Bombers will once again face the Notre Dame Hounds who they just peppered for 16 goals on the weekend.
This time it will be in Wilcox and despite the big ice, goals are sometimes tough to come by. This should be another good test for the Maroon and Whit Express who have scored a very impressive 35 goals in just 7 games.
Puck drop is 9pm Manitoba time tonight.
