The Nipawin Hawks rolled into Flin Flon last night and upset the Bombers 4 to 2 snapping the B'S 3 game winning streak.

 

The Hawks scored on their first two opportunities and led 2 to 0 after one on goals by Carter Wickenheiser and Maguire Ratzlaff.

 

Nipawin kept coming in the second period and jumped out 3 to 0 on Nikolaus Fomradas first ever SJHL goal. That would be the eventual game winner.

 

The Bombers did get a couple of late second period goals from Gabriel Shipper his 6th and captain Zac Smith who collected his 17th.

 

Maguire Ratzlaff scored his second of the night when he scored into the empty net with 19 seconds left in the game to make the final 4 to 2.

 

Hawk netminder Laser Hume Harmon was outstanding and held the Bombers at bay in the third stopping all 10 shots he faced turning aside 47 out of 49 total.

 

No question he was the best player on the ice and was one of the reasons Nipawin was able to come into the Whitney Forum and steal 2 points.

 

Ben Montgomery got the start for the Bombers and he suffered the loss stopping 20 out of 23. His record stands at 3-2 since coming over January the 10th.

 

It was a night of missed oportunities for the Bombers who failed to capitalize on a 4 minute power play in the second period.

 

The Bombers remain in third spot with a record of 31-13-2-1 and lead the fourth place Mustangs and Stars by 7 points.

 

Flin Flon has one game in hand on Melfort while the Stars have 2 in hand on the Bombers.

 

Nipawin will improve to 16-27-0-6 and they remain 11th overall.

 

Next up will be a 3 game road trip this weekend which will start with another team battling for a playoff spot the Melville Millionaires on Friday.

 

This will be their first meeting since October.
