Kodiaks Drop First Game To Birch Hills

The Creighton Kodiaks undefeated streak came to an end this past Saturday at the Creighton football field.

Hosting their first ever SHSAA playoff game the Kodiaks faced their stiiffest  test to date, the Birch Hills Marauders who play in conference 4.

Creighton played hard but came up short losing 63-48 in a back and forth game.

The Kodiaks actually led 23-22 at the half, but Birch Hills turned it up in the second half scoring 41 points.

Birch Hills running back Gabriel Cook did most of the damage, as the Kodiaks had a tough time shutting down his speed, as he was responsible for a good chunk of their points in the second half.

Creighton did score the nicest touchdown of the day on a perfectly executed flee flicker play when QB Blair Pietsch pitched the ball to Williamson,  who then flipped the ball back to Pietsch who fired a 30 yard strike to Chris Reynolds.

A great crowd was on hand who made a lot of noise and have been a tremendous driving force behind this team the past 2 seasons.

Head coach Ryan Karakochuk was disappointed in losing their first game but commended his players on playing hard and battling all afternoon.

Creighton's season now comes to an end and have an all time record of 12-1.

I will have more later this week.
