Broncos Blank Bombers

he Humboldt Broncos put together a very solid road effort in defeating the Flin Flon Bombers 3-0 on Saturday night.

Flin Flon could not establish any thing offensively in the first couple of periods, and were limited to just eleven shots after two. The Bombers were much better in the third when they out shot Humboldt 11-8.

Humboldt forechecked very effectively and the Bombers seemed to be a step behind especially in their own zone.

The Boncos opened up the scoring with a power play goal at 16:19 of the opening period when Ryan Aubertin scored his 9th of the season. That stood up as the game winner, with a couple of insurance goals from: Stumborg and Mcloud.

Devin Buffalo was back betwen the pipes for Flin Flon and was solid as usual stopping 32 out of 35 shots. Ryland Pashovitz picked up his third shut out of the season stopping all 22 Flin Flon shots.

Head Coach and General Manager Mike Reagan had this to say after last night's game.

"We had a difficult time last night, creating any momentum." "Credit to them, we didn't play as well as we did the night before." "We knew going in with twelve eighteen year olds that it was going to be a real challenge for us, to beat them three times in a row." " We were hoping our guys would rise to the challenge, but we did not get ourselves in good scoring areas." When we did generate good chances we missed the net."

The Bombers certainly missed two of their top scorers in Brett Boehm and Cam Blair, who have sixteen goals between them. Boehm will be back in the lineup Tuesday, and Blair's status is not known. He went down hard on his shoulder Friday, and his staus is day to day.

Flin Flon will now focus in on the first place Laronge Ice Wolves in a home and home series Tuesday and Wednesday. Through seventeen games Laronge is 10-7. The Bombers have played sixteen games and are 8-8.

If the Bombers are going to move up the standings they are going to have play better in their own division. Flin Flon is 1-3 in the Sherwood so far this year. This will be the first meeting betwen these two clubs this season, who will meet six times total. They split the season series 4-4 last year, with Flin Flon winning all their games at the Whitney Forum.

No broadcast at home Tuesday, but CFAR-590 and flinflononline.com will have the call Wednesday from the Mel Hegland Uniplex in Laronge with the Murray GM Coach's Show at 7:10.
