Hounds Double Up On Bombers

The Notre Dame Hounds were able to get their power play working as they scored 3 out of their 4 goals with the extra attacker in taking down the Bombers Saturday night 4-2.

The night started well for Flin Flon who opened up the scoring when Brett Boehm scored at 9:38 into the opening period. The Hounds answered that when Schwartzenberger tied it up with a power play goal at16:35. The Hounds would take the lead 2-1 when veteran Sam Aulie scored at 18:34.

Flin Flon seemed to get a big break when Tyson Empey scored a short handed goal early in the second, but the Bombers could not put any more pucks past rookie netminder  Alexi Thibaudeau.

Aulie and Scwartzenberger both scored their second of the night on the powerplay and the Hounds were able to pick up their third win of the season.

Stats sometimes can be very deceiving as the Notre Dame Power play was ranked dead last coming into Saturday's game scoring only 2 goals on 23 oppurtunities. The Hounds were 3 for 4 on Saturday and this was the differance in the game as the Bombers finished up 0 for 4.

Flin Flon will finish the road trip 2-2 and sit third in the Sherwood Division with a record of 5-5. The Bombers are 2 points behind Melfort with a game in hand, and 4 behind division leaders Laronge with a game in hand as well.

The Bombers sit third in the league in goals against with 24, only Kindersley and Notre Dame have allowed fewer goals. Kindersley has given up 22 in 10 games and Notre Dame has given up 23 in 7 games.

Cameron Blair is the only Bomber in the top 10 in league scoring. Blair sits third with 15 points- 5 goals and 10 assists.

Tad Kozan of Nipawin is in second with 16 points and Laonge's Sebastien Bearegard leads the league with 17.

Brett Boehm is 13th with 11 points.

The Bombers will get a 4 day break before they get back on the ice Thursday and Friday, when Estevan and Notre Dame come to town. No broadcast of these games.

Our next broadcasts will be Tuesday and Wednesday October the 29th and 30th when the Bombers travel to Nipawin and Humboldt. We go on the air both nights with the Murray GM Coach's Show at 8:10 and play by play at 8:30.
