The Flin Flon Bombers snapped a two game losing streak at the Whitney Forum last night with a convincing 6-1 win over the Weyburn Red Wings.
Most of the damage was done in the first period when the Bombers connected 4 times on just 12 shots.
Crystopher Collin scored his 9th of the season to open the scoring at 3:56 and Flin Flon never looked back. Other first period goals came from Moretz (12), Hooper (13) and Houle (7).
Weyburn would get their only goal early in the second , when Hiltz scored his 13th , sneaking a puck under Pierce Diamond's left pad. The Bombers would add a couple more insurance goals when Houle picked up his second of the night late in the second period.
Caleb Franklin scored the only goal early in the third to seal the deal at 6-1.
Pierce Diamond played well especially in the third period and never gave Weyburn a chance to get back in the game and ended up with 36 saves on 37 shots.
Riley Lamb went the distance for the Wings and looked shaky in the first period winding up with 41 saves on 47 shots.
This is a big win for the Bombers who improve to 16-8-0-2 and have crept as little closer to the division leaders. Flin Flon is now 7 points behind the first place Mustangs and 5 behind second place Nipawin.
The Bombers travel to the Cage on Tuesday.
Weyburn continues to struggle and fall to 9-16-2 and have been out scored 15-2 in their last two games. They will try to get back on the winning track tomorrow in Laronge.
Flin Flon is back on the ice tomorrow when Estevan comes to town. The Bombers lead the season series two games to none. Don't forget it will be a very special night at the Whitney Forum as the Maroon and White will honor one of their most dedicated fans.
