After a 7 day break, the Flin Flon Bombers are ready to get back on the ice and face the Laronge Ice Wolves in a home and home series.
The two teams will battle at the Whitney Forum tonight with the rematch at the Mel Hegland Uniplex tomorrow.
Flin Flon is playing some good hockey, sitting second in the Sherwood Division at: 12-5-0-2, currently 3 points behind the Nipawin Hawks. The Bombers are 7-1-0-2 in their last 10.
Laronge has been an up and down team this year, and sit 6-15 and occupy the basement in the Sherwood Division. Saying that, the Wolves are an improved team who won all of 10 games last season.
The Wolves do limp in to the weekend losing their last 4 games. This will be their first meeting since the opening weekend and Laronge does look a lot different.
Laronge has made a number of moves, including trading veteran players, Austin and Justin Bill and most recently goalie Merek Pipes and Egan Wolford.
The Bombers have tinkered with their line-up a little bit but are still pretty much the club the Wolves saw at the beginning of the season.
This may look like a little bit of a mis-match on paper with Flin Flon scoring a whopping 86 goals compared to just 58 for Laronge, but the Wolves always play the Bombers tough.
The Wolves picked up 3 out of their 10 wins last year against the Bombers, so wins are anything but guaranteed this weekend.
Congratulations to Flin Flon's Brandson Hein on being selected the SJHL Player Of The Month for both September and October. Hein leads the league in goals with 22 and points with 36.
Bomber captain Nate Hooper also remains red hot picking up 14 points in his last 5 games.
There will be no broadcast on Friday , but make sure you join 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com for all the action on Saturday from Laronge with the Great North GM Coach's Show at 7:10 and play by play at 7:30.
