Klippers Win In A Shoot- Out

It was a good Thanksgiving weekend for the Kindersley Klippers who came into Flin Flon and took 4 points including a 2-1 shoot out win last night, after a 4-2 win on Friday.

The Klippers played a perfect style on the road keeping it simple and keeping the Bomber top offensive threats at bay with a relentless fore check.

Both goalies stole the show with Pierce Diamond allowing just the one goal in regulation when Clay Keeley snuck a shot through from the blue line with lots of traffic in front of the Bomber net. I don't think Diamond saw it.

This was a powerplay goal with just over 4 minutes remaining in the second period.

Flin Flon would tie it on a powerplay goal of their own, when Crystopher Collin would tap a rebound past Justin Close for his second in as many nights at 13:34 of the third.

Both goalies made a lot of big saves to keep the game tied through regulation including Pierce Diamond with perhaps the save of the year, sliding across the crease to make an unbelievable glove save on Caden Benson.

The whole building thought it was in, including me. One of the best saves I have seen in a long time.

The game was tied at one going into OT, and the Bombers looked like they caught a break getting a powerplay with just under 2 minutes remaining in the extra period.

Flin Flon cycled the puck well but could not get another puck past Close who was rock solid for the second straight night.

So this one would have to be decided in the Shoot out, which was the first one this season for both teams.

Kindersley put it away with both Devon Cyr and Caden Benson scoring on their oppurtunities, while Close stopped both Dawson McKenzie and Caleb Moretz.

Final shots through OT were 30-28 in favour of Flin Flon. Powerplays  saw the Bombers go 1 for 7 while the Klippers were 1 for 4.

After a disappointing weekend, Flin Flon's record will dip to 5-4-0-1, which has them tied with Melfort for second in the Sherwood Division with 11 points. Kindersley sits second in the Global Ag Risks Solution Division at 7-3, just 1 point behind the Humboldt Broncos.

The Bombers hit the road for 4 games in 5 nights, starting Wednesday In Humboldt, Thursday in Notre Dame before wrapping up in Weyburn Saturday and Estevan Sunday.

You can catch Saturday and Sunday's games on 102,9 CFAR and flinflononline.com. Saturdy we hit the air at 8:15 with the Great North GM Coach's Show, and 6:45 on Sunday.
