It was a defensive showdown between the Creighton Kodiaks and undefeated Cumberland House Islanders earlier today at the Creighton Field.
The Kodiaks played a great game but they couldn't punch it into the end zone late in the game and they found themselves on the wrong end of a 16-12 score.
Creighton had a tough time getting their offense in gear, especially the running game and found them selves down 8-4 at the half.
Trailing 16-4 in the final quarter, the Kodiaks finally found the end zone when Evan Madarash took the hand off from Blake Alexander and scampered 5 yards for Creighton's only touchdown of the day.
The Kodiaks put together a great drive with just over 3 minutes remaing in the game but turned the ball over on downs deep in the Islander's end.
Cumberland House got a couple of key first downs and were able to run the clock down enroute to their third straight victory.
The other Kodiak points came from Blake Alexander who kicked a field goal and scored a point on a long single.
Creighton will fall to 1-2 and will play their final home game next Thursday against Pinehouse, 4 PM at the Creighton Field.
Head Coach Ryan Karakochuk had this to say after the game. " I thought the guys worked really hard, I feel bad for them as they worked their butts off. It came down to a few details, we missed a few kicks and were second in goal from the ten and couldn't punch it in. They were able to run the clock out and I am very proud of them."
