Terriers Down Bombers In Shoot-out

The Flin Flon Bombers kicked off their 4 game in 5 night road trip with a 3-2 shoot out loss to the Yorkton Terriers last night at the Farrell Agencies Arena.

Tyler Nyman who suited up for Flin Flon for the first time in 2018 opened the scoring for the Bombers at 3:54 of the first period.

It would take the Terriers just 3 minutes to tie the game when Cole Keenlyside scored on a short handed break away.

The former Melfort Mustang, Josh Dobberthien put the Terriers up 2-1 after 2 on the powerplay.

It looked like that may be enough, but with a late powerplay and the goalie pulled, Flin Flon found a way to tie the game when Brandson Hein jumped on a loose puck in front of the Terrier net with just under 2 minutes remaining.

This was Hein's 8th of the year in 14 games since joining the Bombers from Everett of the WHL.

OT settled nothing and these two teams would have to decide the game in a shoot-out. The last time they met in Yorkton on January the 26th, they also went to the shoot-out which lasted 11 rounds.

This one ended a lot quicker and only took 3 shooters.

Josh Dobberthien was the first Terrier to shoot and he beat Brenden Newton with a quick snap shot over his right pad.

Joe Marcouillier who was great all night stopped all 3 Bomber shooters including Hooper, Collin and Moretz. Moretz was the player who won it for Flin Flon the last time they went to the shoot-out with Yorkton.

Final shots were 37-29 in favour of Flin Flon, with the Bombers going 1 for 6 on the pp. The Terriers finished up 1 for 5.

Flin Flon will take the season series getting 7 out of a possible 8 points.

Every point counts, especially at this time of the year so the Bombers will take their one point and prepare for Melville tonight.

The Mills have been playing good hockey down the stretch and have moved to within 3 points of the Bombers for 9th overall. Both teams have played 53 games.

You can catch all the action from the Horizon Credit Union Centre with Mike Stackhouse tonight, beginning with the Great North GM Coach's Show at 7:10.
