The Flin Flon Bombers will face the Melfort Mustangs for the third time in just over a week, as they will meet tonight at the Northern Lights Palace.
Home ice meant nothing last weekend, with both teams winning on the road. Flin Flon went into Melfort last Friday and won 6-4, while the Mustangs returned the favour winning 6-3 at the Whitney Forum, one night later.
The Bombers are playing their best hockey of the season going 5-3-1-1 in their last 10 as they try to land 8th spot and home ice advantage for the Survivor Series.
Entering play tonight Flin Flon is 19-22-3-4 and have 45 points, which is 6 behind Kindersley and both teams have played 48 games.
It looks like they have a bonified no.1 line again with the likes Of Crystopher Collin, Nate Hooper and Brandson Heine.
These three players have combined for 40 points in their last 10 games and literally make something happen every time they are on the ice.
Heine has been nothing short of spectacular since arriving from the WHL and you can't help but wonder how many points he would have if he suited up at the beginning of the season.
A number of Bomber rookies are also playing well including Ethan Daniels, Calvon Boots, Caleb Moretz and Mason Martin who keep getting better with each passing game. The future looks bright.
The Mustangs have taken 4 out of the 6 meetings and have out scored the Bombers 25 to 15 in the 6 head to head contests.
Melfort continues to be one of the best teams in the league at 33-11-4-1 and sit fourth overall, but they do have the third best record. Estevan occupies third because they are first in their division.
Flin Flon will have their hands full again tonight and will have to try and shut down Melfort's leading scorer in defenseman Loch Morrison who has 55 points in 46 games. Morrison has 10 points against the Bombers in 5 meetings and will be on the ice alot.
