It was another good day for members of the Flin Flon Bombers at the first ever SJHL/MJHL Showcase in Regina.
The SJHL managed to take two out of three against the MJHL, to finish the two day event at 5-1.
It all started with Team MJHL Garbutt picking up their only win , 5-2 over Team Schwartz to earn a split in the two games betwen the two squads.
The SJHL barely hung on to win the second game of the day with Team Mitchell over Team Belfour 4-3 in OT.
Team Mitchell was up 3-0, before getting into penalty trouble and allowed the MJHL to mount the comeback with a couple goals late in the third period.
The Bombers Brenden Newton picked up the win stopping 20 out of 23 shots and was chosen the SJHL game star. Caleb Moretz also added an assist. Melfort's Kalem Zary scored the OT winner.
In the final game of the day, the SJHL Team Kunitz built up a 4-0 lead and hung on for a 5-2 win over Team Zajac. Humboldt's Logan Schatz scored a goal and added two assists.
All indications are that the first ever SJHL/MJHL Showcase was a success and SJHL President Bill Chow has confirmed the event will be back in Regina next year.
