Bombers Face Ice Wolves

The Flin Flon Bombers and Laronge Ice Wolves will put the Christmas break and first half of the season behind them as they wrap up 2017 with a home and home series Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday's game will be at the Whitney Forum, and hopefully kids that are home from College and University that don't get a chance to watch the Bombers very often will come out in full force.

These are two huge games that have big playoff implications. Flin Flon occupy the last SJHL playoff spot with 24 points, which is 8 more than Laronge. Both teams have played 32 games.

The Ice Wolves have played the Bombers tough lately, beating them the last two times out, and with a weekend sweep could make the standings and playoff picture very interesting.

The Bombers did get a much needed road win in Kindersley just before the Christmas break and hopefully that will give them momentum heading into this weekend.

Flin Flon will also have Head Coach and GM Mike Reagan back behind the bench after his Gold medal performance in Truro at the World JR A Challenge that wrapped up December the 16th.

Crystopher Collin who was also on the Gold medal squad returns as well and continues to lead the team in goals with 14 and sits third in points with 23.

The Ice Wolves continue to tinker with their lineup and added 20 year old forward Daniel Chartrand from the OCN Blizzard in early December and he has been able to chip in offensively on a team that has really struggled to score. Chartrand has picked up 2 goals in 5 games since coming over from the MJHL.

I am sure that both coach's will be watching both these games very closely and deciding who will be around for the stretch drive as we are getting closer to January the 10th. If you can't get up for these games than chances are we will see players being moved.

Mike Reagan mentioned in our interview just after the World JR A Challenge, that there were some changes he wanted to make on his team.

No matter what go's down, you will have the best seat in the house as we will have both games here on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com including the Great North GM Coach's Show at 7:15 Saturday followed by drop of the puck at 7:30.

Don't forget Sunday's New Years Eve battle from Laronge will start at 6, which means we will have the Great North GM Coach's Show at 5:45.
