It looked like the Flin Flon Bombers were on their way to losing their 7th straight hockey game last night, but they found a way to get back in the win column against the Kindersley Klippers.
Kindersley jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one on goals from Cyr, Page and Thompson and seemed to be in control, but the Bombers got it together.
Nick Shumlanski gave the Bombers some hope when he potted his 9th of the season early in the second period, to get the deficit to 3-1 after 2.
What a third period, Flin Flon would add 4 more from Nate Hooper his 8th and 9th, Ethan Daniels (8) and Shumlanski added his second of the game and 10th of the year to finish the game with 4 points.
This would have to be described as the Bombers best road period of the season and showed how much character this young team has, who could have easilly mailed it in with the team's last game before Christmas.
This is just the Bomber's second road win of the season and it couldn't of come at a better time as they shook off a nasty 7 game losing streak and gave themselves a big boost heading into the holidays.
Maybe this will be the win that turns the Bombers season around. It is funny what one win can do.
Brenden Newton is starting to get comfortable back between the pipes and picked up his first win in almost 2 months. Newton stopped 26 out of 29 and held the fort allowing his team to get back in the game.
Justen Close was back in goal for Kindersley and he stopped 39 out of 44.
Flin Flon improves to 10-18-1-3 and hold onto the 10th and final playoff spot, 7 points up on Yorkton and 8 up on Laronge.
The Bombers will now get an 11 day break before closing out 2017 with two games against the Laronge Ice Wolves in what has to be described as two must wins.
Laronge has beaten Flin Flon in their last two meetings including a 5-2 win this past Friday.
102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com will have both broadcasts from Flin Flon Dec 30th and back in Laronge for the re-match Dec 31st.
