The Flin Flon Bombers will tackle the Estevan Bruins tonight at the Whitney Forum after a 7 day break.
Flin Flon hasn't played since last Thursday when they dropped a 4-3 decision in Melfort. Estevan is on a Northern road trip and they lost in Melfort 4-3 last night.
This will be the second meeting of the season between the two former WCHL rivals with Estevan beating the Bombers at Affinity Place back on October the 15th 7-3.
The Bruins are 12-6-1 and are second in the Viterra Division, 1 point behind Weyburn. Estevan loves to score and have found the back of the net 87 times in 19 games to lead the league. They are led by Zach Goberis and Michael McChesney who have 58 points between them. Goberis had a hat trick against the Bombers in their last meeting.
Flin Flon are 7-9-0-3 and sit third in the Sherwood with 17 points. They trail Nipawin by 8 points for second and Melfort by 12 points for the division lead.
Good news for the Bombers, Mike Reagan commented after practice today that goal tender Brenden Newton and veteran forward Nick Shumlanski would both be back in the lineup tonight.
Despite going 2-8 in their last 10 games, the Bombers are playing much better since that long road trip in October and are a respectable 6-2-0-2 at the Whitney Forum.
No question the high flying Bruins will be a big challenge for the Bomber's young d-core who feel they have something to prove after giving up 7 goals to Estevan back in October.
Congratulations to the Bombers Crystopher Collin on being selected SJHL Rookie Of The Month for both September and October. Collin leads all rookies in the league with 20 points in 19 games including 13 goals.
Game time tonight is 7:30 and there will be no broadcast. We are back on the air from Nipawin next Friday from the Cage with the Great North GM Coach's Show at 7:15 and play by play at 7:30.
