Challenging Weekend Ahead

The Flin Flon Bombers are back in action this weekend with a pair of games, as they will try to snap a 6 game losing streak.

It won't be easy as Flin Flon will try to knock off the two hottest teams in the league. Weyburn who are in town tonight,  have won 8 in a row including convincing wins in Melfort and Laronge earlier in the week.

The Wings have also beaten the Bombers twice this season including a 3-2 shoot out win at the Showcase in Saskatoon, and a recent 7-4 win in Weyburn back on October 14th.

Home cooking may be exactly what the Bombers need as they are 4-1 at home and are a lot better defesively giving up just 13 goals. On the road a totally different story at 1-6-0-1 including 41 goals against.

Weyburn is 10-2-1 and with their recent winning streak  have a share of first place in the Viterra Division with the high flying Estevan Bruins. Weyburn also have three games in hand.

This will be a big challenge for the Maroon and White, who have struggled to score lately, and goals don't come easy against the Wings who have only given up 29 all season. They are second overall, only Battleford has given up less with 20.

Notre Dame will be at the Whitney Forum tomorrow and they come to town winners of their last 6. The Hounds are 9-3-1-1 and are one of the early surprises this year.

We will know if the Hounds are for real after this weekend,  as the majority of their games have been played at home so far this year. Notre Dame have played 10 at home and only 4 away and wins have been tough to come by at the Forum, with just 1 victory in their last 8 meetings.

The Bombers are battling injuries with a couple of their veterans still out of the lineup including no.1 goalie Brenden Newton and forward Jordan McCausland. Their return to the lineup is still not known.

A lot has changed in the last few weeks as the Bombers were once  challenging for the division lead but now trail Melfort by 12 points and Nipawin by 5.

Flin Flon will need to have a good weekend to get back in the race. It is parents weekend so hopefully that will give the team an extra boost.

102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com will have the broadcast of Saturday's game with the Great North GM Coach's Show at 7:15, and drop of the puck at 7:30.
