Kodiaks Win Home Opener

The Creighton Kodiaks had their offense firing on all cylinders in a 69-55 win over the visiting Sandy Bay Timber Wolves  yesterday at the Creighton field.

This was one of the highest scoring games in the Northern Saskatchewan Football league's history and kept the fans on the edge of their seats all afternoon long.

Sandy Bay came out hard and took an early 19-1 lead in the first quarter, and seemed to have the Kodiaks flustered early in the game.

Creighton made adjustments and got their running game going with QB Bailey Eastman and running back Shawn Francois both having strong afternoons.

The Kodiaks had a very strong second quarter and led 31-28 at the half, then out scored Sandy Bay 38 to 27 the rest of the way.

Bailey Eastman led the way with 4 touch downs, Shawn Francois had 3 while the other TD came from Linden Moore.

Blake Alexander had an incredible day kicking the ball with 1 field goal and 7 converts which I was told was a new Northern Saskatchewan Football record. Keenan Campbell added a safety which accounted for the rest of the scoring.

Creighton will start the season 1-0, while Sandy Bay is 0-1. The Kodiaks will practise the rest of the week before preparing for Pinehouse who will be in town Friday. Pinehouse has already played two games and are 1-1.

Kickoff will be Friday 4pm at the Creighton field.
