The Flin Flon Bombers erupted for five goals in the first period en route to a 7-0 win over the MJHL'S OCN Blizzard last night at the GLMC.
In a game that featured mostly rookies, Montreal's Crystopher Collin scored his third of the pre season to open up the scoring just 2 minutes into the opening period, which would stand up as the eventual game winner.
Flin Flon would also get first period goals from Connor Beebee,Dylan Burton, Donovan Villeneuve and Collin's added his second of the night.
Ethan Daniels scored the lone goal in the second and Drew Wilde added his first of the pre season early in the third for the 7-0 win.
Final shots favored the Bombers 37-19, and once again Flin Flon used three goalies with Braeden Funke the busiest stopping 11 shots, Niklas Anderson made 6 saves and Chris Wielenga only had to stop 2.
OCN used two goalies with Devin Allen giving up 6 goals on 23 shots and Randy Cooke only getting beat once on 17 shots.
The Bombers improve to 2-1 on the pre season and will face Laronge at home Thursday, before the Blizzard make their way to town on Friday for the rematch and the second phase of the battle of Northern Manitoba.
Last night was OCN'S first pre season game and their lineup should have a lot different look for the rematch on Friday. The Blizzard didn't dress 1 vet last night while the Bombers went with 3 including Madarash, Beebee and Pickler. All 3 played well and stood out.
Mike Reagan commented on last night's CFAR Post Game Show that he will dress more vets Thursday and Friday as they have been giving a number of rookies a look to give them every opportunity to make the team.
Don't forget to sign up for the Bomber golf tournament this Sunday. It is $75.00 which includes a steak dinner, prizes and a round of golf. Every group includes a Bomber player and this is a big fundraiser for the team.
