Bombers Grab 3 Out Of 4 Points

The Bombers were able to rebound with a solid 4-1 win at the Farrell Agencies Arena Saturday afternoon after dropping a 5-4 decision in a shoot out to Yorkton Friday night.

Flin Flon tasted defeat for the first time in 2017 and also had their 6 game win streak snapped, but did what good teams do and that is respond after a loss.

Nick Shumlanski opened up the scoring in the second period when he picked up his 12th of the year on the powerplay at 3:05.

Jordan McCausland followed that up with a pair of goals against his former team his 7th and 8th of the year. McCausland had 1 goal in 26 games with Yorkton and now has 7 goals in 15 games with the Bombers.

Flin Flon would get an insurance goal from Greyson Reitmeier in the third period as he would pick up his 20th of the season on a nice feed from Hooper. Reitmeier had a great weekend picking up 4 points in the weekend set in Yorkton and has moved into second spot for the league scoring race with 55 points in 43 games.

Reitmeier trails Notre Dame's Ben Duperreault by 5 points for first overall.

This was as good a game as goaltender Brenden Newton has played all season stopping 36 out of 37 Yorkton shots and Mike Reagan mentioned on the CFAR Post Game Report that it looked like the Brenden Newton of last season.

After the weekend the Bomber record will stand at 28-10-2-3 good for 61 points which gives them a 10 point lead on Nipawin for first in the Sherwood and the Hawks holding 4 games in hand.

Flin Flon also continues to hold down second overall 6 points up on Estevan,  but the Bruins also have 2 games in hand.

Not much rest time as the Bombers will now prepare for the Melfort Mustangs who make their way to the Whitney Forum for just the second time this season Tuesday night. Melfort hasn't been at the Whitney Forum since November the 1st.

The Mustangs have played the Bombers well winning both games at the Palace and are responsible for two of the Bombers 5 losses since the beginning of November.

No broadcast of this game, we hit the air waves on Saturday as the Bombers prepare for the Laronge Ice Wolves with the Murray GM Coach's Show at 7:15 and play by play at 7:30.
