Great Start To December

After going 7-2 in November, the Flin Flon Bombers have started December with a bang picking up two straight wins at the expense of the Nipawin Hawks.

Flin Flon swept the home and home on the weekend winning 4-1 on Friday and a 3-2 win at the Cage on Saturday.

The usual suspects led the way with the offense as Reitmeier picked up his 14th, Lavallee his team leading 15th, and Mason Etter scored his second of the season with a nice shot from the point on the powerplay.

Thompson and Kjargaard replied for the Hawks.

This is the Bombers fifth win of the year over the Hawks and no matter what happens in the next three meetings Flin Flon will take the season series.

It looks like Brenden Newton has bounced back and looked very solid between the pipes stopping a total of 57 out of 60 shots in the two wins and looked as composed and confidfent as I have seen him all season.

The Bombers will get a little more breathing room atop the Sherwood Division as they now lead Nipawin by 9 points for first , but the Hawks do have three games in hand. These head to head matchups have been huge and will likely decide first place in the division.

Flin Flon improves to 17-8-2-2 and are just one of four teams in the league to score more than 100 goals so far this year. The Bombers are inching closer to 500 on the road and are 6-7 away from the Whitney Forum.

Congratulations to Greyson Reitmeier and Zac Robidoux who have both been recognized for their great play in November.

Reitmeier has been chosen the player of the month for picking up points in all 9 games played including 8 goals and 10 assists. Robidoux was chosen goalie of the month winning 4 out of his 5 starts including back to back shutouts over Kindersley and Melville.

Robidoux also set the all time record for shutouts for the Bombers since re-entry into the SJHL, by beating Devin Buffalo's career mark of 7.

The Bombers will play their last two home games before the Christmas break when they host Weyburn Wednesday and Estevan Friday. 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com will broadcast Friday's game.
