Bombers Impressive In 3 Game Sweep

After a come from behind 4-3 win over Nipawin Friday, and an impressive 5-2 victory against Humboldt Saturday the Flin Flon  Bombers made their way to the Horizon Credit Union Center in Melville Sunday.

Any time you play three games in three nights you always worry about fatigue setting in , but the Bombers looked anything but tired and dominated the Mills from beginning to end and picked up a solid 4-0 win.

Kristian St.Onge's 11th of the season stood up as the game winner just 3:28 into the opening period on the PP. St.Onge deflected a Rylee Zimmer shot that fooled Melville goaltender Brandon Wells, when he re-directed Zimmer's snap shot low blocker side.

St.Onge was money on this trip collecting 3 goals and 2 assists and now shares the team lead for goals with Brandon Lesko at 11.

Other goals Sunday came from Thomas his first, Reitmeier his 9th and Sinclair on the PP, his 4th. It almost looked like Melville was the team with bus legs and couldn't really get going all game and only mustered 13 shots on goal compared to 38 for the Bombers.

Special teams were big with the Bombers going 2 for 5 on the PP and Melville was 0 for 4. The Bombers scored 5 powerplay goals over the 3 game road trip.

Zac Robidoux picked up his second straight win and second shutout of the season to give him 7 career shutouts in a Bomber uniform, which may be a new modern day Bomber record. I will do some checking on this but I am pretty sure Robidoux has the new record.

Congratulations to Zac who was selected the SJHL goalie of the week after his 13 save shutout last night and he also stopped 23 out of 25 the night before in beating Humboldt 5-2. Robidoux improves to 6-2-2 on the season and has a 2.49 gaa and a save % of .913.

Funny how quickly things can change. Before the weekend Flin Flon was 2-6 on the road and after reeling off 3 straight are all of a sudden a very respectable 5-6 away from the Whitney Forum.

The Bomber overall record will improve to 13-7-2-2 and they lead Nipawin by 4 points for first in the Sherwood Division , but the Hawks have 3 games in hand. Flin Flon now sits 4th overall in the league standings  just 1 point behind Humboldt.

Next up will be a pair of home games this Thursday against Kindersley and Humboldt in town Friday. Our next broadcast of Bomber hockey will be in Melfort Wednesday Nov 30th with the usual Murray GM Coach's Show at 7:15 and play by play at 7:30.
