The Flin Flon Bombers electrifying start to the season continued on the weekend against the Melville Millionaires sweeping both games at the Whitney Forum.
Flin Flon wrapped up September with a 3-1 win on Friday with goals from Watson his league leading 9th, Lesko his 4th and Brody Madarash picked up his first ever SJHL goal.
The Bombers finish September with a record of: 5-1-1, pretty good when you consider they only had 1 point in all of September last year.
They took over right where they left off to start October blanking the Mills 2-0 on Saturday.
Greyson Reitmeier picked a good time to score his first of the season when he picked up a powerplay goal mid way through the first period streaking in on Brandon Wells and poking a puck under his right pad.
That stood as the game winner with Nik Shumlanski scoring an insurance goal late in the second period to make the final 2-0.
Zac Robidoux was between the pipes for both Bomber victories and made 22 saves to collect his first shut out of the season. He had 5 last year to set a new Bomber record.
Robidoux is one of the reasons Flin Flon has had a great start to the season going 3-0 to go along with a GAA of 1.33 and a save % of .957.
After the weekend the Bombers are 6-1-1 and lead the Sherwood Division by 3 points over Nipawin who picked up their 4th straight win last night.
Flin Flon is second overall and trail the rejuvinated Humboldt Broncos by just 1 point. Both teams have played 8 games.
Next up for the Bombers will be a real test as they get set to host the Battleford Stars in a pair of games Friday and Saturday. Enjoy the Thanksgiving weekend with two quality hockey teams and this will also be their first meeting since the Bombers beat them in 5 games to eliminate the Stars from the playoffs last spring.
No broadcast Friday, we hit the air waves Saturday with the Murray GM Coach's Show at 7:15, play by play at 7:30.
