It Starts For Real Tonight

After appearing in the finals for just the second time in 30 years and coming within 2 wins of an SJHL Championship, the Flin Flon Bombers will go back to work tonight.

The SJHL regular season will begin with 10 of the league's 12 teams seeing action including Flin Flon hosting Nipawin in the first of a home and home at the Whitney Forum.

The Bombers are coming off an impressive pre season where they were a perfect 4-0 and put up 66 shots in their last pre season game against the OCN Blizzard.

16 players will return from last seasons team including both goalies Zac Robidoux and Brendan Newton. The back end will feature 7 returnees including new captain Braden Lacoursiere and up front 7 players return including Rylee Zimmer who had a fantastick post season including a double ot winner that eliminated Battleford in 5 games.

Some newcomers to be excited about include former flonner Isaac Jackson and Brody Madarash, son of all time Bomber leading scorer Tim Madarash.

Flin Flon started slow out of the gate last year, not winning a game until October, and Mike Reagan is hoping for and expecting a lot better start this year.

Nipawin has been one of the Bombers best rivals over the years and ended the regular season with a win at the Whitney Forum  and also  took the season series.

The Hawks have lost some scoring from last season, but have great goaltending and always play a good in your face style with one of the league's best bench bosses in Doug Johnson.

Make sure you get to the game early, there will be lots of prizes courtesy of Northland Ford and kids tickets are being provided by Hudbay.

This will be our first broadcast of the season, and we will be on the air with the Murray GM COach's Show at 7:15, play by play at 7:30.
