Bombers Entertain Hounds

After a week break the Flin Flon Bombers return to action tomorrow (Saturday) , when they host the Notre Dame Hounds 7:30 at the Whitney Forum.

The playoffs may not officially start til the middle of March, but I think it's safe to say with 7 games left on the season and positioning changing on a nightly basis, points will be important every night.

Flin Flon's no.1 goal is still to catch Melfort for first in the division, but still need to hold off Nipawin for second in the Sherwood and fourth overall. Estevan has also joined the party and all of a sudden are just 3 points back of the Bombers.

Nipawin ( 31-17-2-1) lead the Bombers (30-17-0-4) by 1 point, and both teams have 7 games left on the season. The Hawks play the Hounds tonight, so the Bombers  will have 1 game in hand after tonight. Flin Flon will host Nipawin in the final regular season game on Tuesday March the 8th. Wouldn't that be something if that is the deciding game for fourth overall.

Notre Dame is battling it out with Kindersley for 7th, both teams have 49 points and can move up the standings, 5 points behind Laronge. The Hounds have 8 games left, while Kindersley have 7 and Laronge 6. The Hounds are in Laronge Sunday night.

The Hounds are 3-1 against the Bombers this season and not only beat them at the Whitney Forum earlier in the year but also eliminated them from the playoffs in a thrilling 7th game last spring.

Flin Flon have only lost 6 games at home all season, just 3 in the last 3 months but for what ever reason have had a tough time beating the lower tier teams this year.

The Hounds limp into town 2-6-2 in their last 10 but are a respectable 10-10-0-2 on the road this year, but will have to travel up from Nipawin for Saturday. If the Bombers can pounce on them early , they could make it a long night for Notre Dame.

Flin Flon are 6-4 in their last 10 and are 3-2 in the month of February and seem to be running into a lot of hot goalies lately. Wins at this time of year are always tough to get,  as the Bombers are finding out with desperate teams like Yorkton and Melville on the last road trip.

Expect a loud playoff atmosphere at the Forum, the Bombers not only need a win to keep a top the standings but would like nothing better to topple the Hounds with a little pay back for last spring.

No matter what go's down you will have the best seat in the house with all the action on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com including the Murray GM Coach's Show at 7:15 and drop of the puck at 7:30.
