The Flin Flon Bombers were looking to keep the momentum going after a big 3-2 win over Estevan Thursday, when they hosted the Hounds Friday.

 

Notre Dame came to town beating the Bombers twice earlier this season and had a nice comeback win over Laronge the night before.

 

The injury riddled Ian Williams opened the scoring with his 8th of the season at 9:55 of the first period. This was the only goal of the opening period, to give the Hounds a 1-0 lead after 1.

 

Notre Dame jumped out 2-0 when Werle scored at the 4:11 mark. Joseph Leonidas got the Bombers on the board when he scored on the pp at 11:09. 2-1 Hounds after 2.

 

Joel Kocur tied the game early in the third with his 15th of the year, but Dahlgren scored less than 2 minutes later and Notre Dame retook the lead 3-2.

 

Once again the Bombers tied it when Lavallee scored his fourth at 16:58. It looked like the game was headed to OT, but Flaman was left alone at the side of the Bomber goal and shovelled a loose puck underneath Zac Robidoux to put the Hounds up 4-3 with less than 2 minutes remaining.

 

Flin Flon pulled the goalie for the extra attacker, but could not get any more pucks past Alexi Thibadeau, who was great and the best player on the ice this night.

 

I was very impressed with Notre Dame, who score by committee and don't have a single player in the top 20 in league scoring. They are very quick and break out of their own end very well, and very rarely turn the puck over. They are going to be a force again this season.

 

The Bombers drop below .500 and sit at 11-12-0-4 and are now 5 points behind Laronge for third in the Sherwood Division.

 

Notre Dame  improve to 13-11-2-1 and have leap frogged Kindersley for second in the Finning Division. They are 16 points behind front running Battleford.
