Wolves 6 Bombers 3

The Laronge Ice Wolves were able to capitalize on their opportunities and doubled up on the Flin Flon Bombers 6-3 last night at the Mel Hegland Uniplex.

The Wolves scored 2 quick goals from Jakubowski and Blaquiere before the game was even 4 minutes old.

On a delayed penalty Alex Smith continued his torrid pace and fired home a nice one timer for his team leading 15th of the year, to get the Bombers on the board with only 8 seconds remaining in the period at 2-1 after 1.

Creighton's Brendan Barron restored the two goal lead when he took an errant Bomber pass at the blue line and skated down the ice to flip a back hand past Zac Robidoux. Barron has 10 points in 10 games since the trade with OCN.

Flin Flon responded with Brandon Switzer scoring  a nice goal, firing a low wrist shot past Kris Joyce to make it a 1 goal game again at 3-2.

A late powerplay goal by Shattler preserved the 2 goal lead with Laronge heading into the locker room 4-2 after 2.

Kristian ST.Onge scored 34 seconds into the third to give the Bomber life at 4-3, but they  couldn't get any closer.

Painchaud scored a couple of insurance goals, 1 into the empyty net as Laronge picked up their 7th straight win 6-3. The Ice Wolves have the second best home record in the league at 10-2-1. Melfort is 10-0 at the Northern Lights palace. Laronge is also unbeaten in their last 12.

The loss snaps the Bombers 4 game win streak as they prepare for 2 home games this Thursday and Friday against Estevan and Notre Dame. Flin Flon will now play 6 straight at the Whitney Forum before heading out for a 4 game in 5 night road trip starting December the 16th to close out 2015.

Flin Flon will drop 1 game below .500 and sit 10-11-0-4, 24 points, 6 behind Laronge and Nipawin. The Bombers have a game in hand on both teams.

One of the bright spots in last night's game was Curtis Roach. Roach in my opinion was one of the best  players on the ice and was good at both ends of the rink,  and was very effective jumping into the play at the right time. He plays with an edge and does a nice job keeping it under control and stays out of the penalty box.

The line of ST.Onge, Reitmeier and Wilson were also very good and got lots of chances all night. This line hit everything  in sight and opened up a lot of room for them selves, running over Ice Wolves. Mike Reagan was very impressed with their play and we should see plenty of them this weekend.

Our next broadcast on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com will be next Friday December the 4th against Nipawin.
