Bombers Split On Road

The Flin Flon Bombers were on the road in Yorkton and Melville this past weekend and managed to pick up their first road win Friday coming from behind.

Down 3-1 late in the second the Bombers scored twice to tie it on goals from Kocur his 6th and Knaub his first.

The Bombers dominated the third out shooting the Terriers 16-7 but could not get the game winner and it remained tied in the third and through OT.

Curtis Roach was the hero Friday when he scored the winner in the 5th round of the shoot out to give the Bombers the much needed win. Not only is this the Bombers first shoot out win of the season, Roach is the first Bomber to score in a shoot out this year.

With the win Friday, you thought the boys would be pretty fired up in Melville the next night, but the Bombers found themselves on the wrong end of a 6-4 score.

Both teams came out firing scoring 5 goals in the first, with Melville up 3-2.

Bomber goals coming from Millar and Leonidas their first of the season, with Melville goals from: Bear, Predinchuk and Tesarowski.

Melville scored 2 more in the second to take a 5-2 lead after 2 on goals from Predinchuk his second of the night and Mack.

Flin Flon would make it interesting in the third when Kocur would score a pair of power play goals his 7th and 8th of the season, but the Mills would get a late power play goal of their own to pull it out 6-4.

After the weekend the Bomber record stands at 3-6-0-2, 8 points,  1up on Laronge for third in the Sherwood Division with 3 games in hand.

The Bombers are 11 points behind second place Nipawin and 12 behind the front running Melfort Mustangs.

Next action is this weekend when the Bombers host the much improved Weyburn Red Wings Friday night and the rematch with Melville Saturday. 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com will have the broadcast Saturday.
