The local high school basketball season came to an end this weekend.
The Creighton Kodiak SR Girls were in Foam Lake for Regionals and had a very impressive showing.
Creighton lost to Birch Hills Friday 71-67 in the Provincial 5th place game. The Kodiaks came from 15 points down and were up by 2 with a couple minutes to go but couldn't hold on. Khariz Kawa was the player of the game with 22 points.
Next up was Moose Jaw, in a game that went back and forth with the Kodiaks pulling out a 62-59 win. Creighton got the winning basket with 12 seconds left. McKenzie Grant led the way with 33 points.
The Kodiaks finish 9th overall in the province and should be a contender again next year with only 1 player graduating.
The Hapnot SR Kings were in Morden for Provincials and dropped both their games.
The Kings lost to Neelin out of Brandon 64-49 in their first game Thursday. The Kings were down by 20 after the first half and could not recover.
Hapnot then squared off with Ed Schryer and blew a 13 point half time lead and ended up losing 71-56 and were eliminated.
Head Coach Don Dyke called it the toughest loss of his coaching career, but was still happy with their season including their 4th straight Zone title.
