Bombers Win 5th Straight

The Flin Flon Bombers capped a perfect road trip with a hard fought 3 to 2 win in Kindersley on Saturday night.

I knew Kindersley would come out with a lot better effort after being embarrassed 9 to 2 the night before.

It was a good start for the Bombers who once again scored the first two goals of the game. The red hot Mason Kaspick opened up the scoring on a partial break away when he snapped a low shot glove side on Matthew Pesenti.

This was Kaspick's third goal in the last two games and he was a goal post away from getting a hat-trick the night before.

Donavan Houle would score early in the second on the power play for his league leading 17th of the season.

With Flin Flon out front 2 to 0, Kindersley would press late in the second and got rewarded with a couple of goals from Austin Nault and Caden Benson to tie it up at 2 after 2.

A good start for Flin Flon in the third as they limited the Kindersley scoring chances and got the eventual game winnner from Reid Robertson.

Billy Klymchuk fed him a nice pass from behind the net and Robertson was there to bury his 4th of the year.

This was all the offense the Bombers would need as Jacob Delorme did the rest stopping 30 out of 32 shots including all 7 in the third period.

Klipper starting goalie Matthew Pesenti was nothing short of outstanding and was the reason his team was able to stay in the game.

Flin Flon peppered him early and often and he stopped 39 out of 42 including 20 saves alone in the first period.

What a road trip for the Bombers who take all three games and have now won 5 in a row and sit first in the Sherwood Division at 12-3-2, good for 26 points.

That is one up on Melfort who the Bombers will play in a home and home this week. The Mustangs are here on Tuesday and Flin Flon will travel there on Thursday.

Specialty teams continue to be the very best in the league with the Bomber power play number one at 33 %. Flin Flon scored 6 power play goals alone in the win on Friday.

Their penalty kill is also number one at 88 %.

Flin Flon also continues to score a lot and are second overall with 55, with Battleford the only team to find the back of the net more often this season.

We will not be broadcasting tomorrow's game at the Whitney Forum but will have the broadcast from Melfort on Thursday including the Great North GM Coach's Show at 8:10, MB time.
