Sankner Steller In Bomber Debut

The Flin Flon Bomber Goaltender carousel  continued on the weekend as the Bombers swept a pair of games from the Kindersley Klippers to improve to 7-2 on the season.

On Friday,  rookie Jaden Little stopped 34 shots as the Bombers beat the Klippers 5-4 in OT.

Brandon Cianflone scored a beautiful goal on a feed from Matt Flodell just 1:18 into the extra period for his second of the night and fourth of the season.

On Saturday, Matt Sankner made his Bomber debut and was nothing short of fantastik in stopping 48 out of 50 Klipper shots in the 4-2 Flin Flon win.

No question in my mind that Sankner was the difference, as he made a lot of big saves including three clear cut break aways for his first SJHL win.

The Bomber defense coughed up the puck several times through out the game but the veteran puck stopper was there to bail them out.

Sankner hails from Pennington New Jersey and brings lots of experience from the USHL and Norh American Hockey League.

Most recently Sankner suited up for the Johnstown Tomahawks of the NAHL.

The Flin Flon goal scorers from Saturday were: Flodell (2), Martin (4), White (1) and Houle with his team leading 10th.

With the win Flin Flon will improve to 7-2 on the season and are second in the Sherwood Division, just two points behind Melfort with two games in hand.

The Bombers will get a good test this week as they embark on their first road trip of the season with 3 games in 3 nights.

It starts in Humboldt on Thursday, Battleford Friday and Yorkton on Saturday.

Remember they will all start at 8:30 Manitoba time with all three games broadcast on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com.
