Broncos Bury Bombers

After picking up 2 points in a hard fought 5-3 win over Humboldt on Friday, it was a complete dismantling in the rematch Saturday.

The Broncos scored quickly  and they scored often in a lop sided 9-3 win on Saturday.

This was one of the toughest and most frustrating games for the Bombers in a long time and reminded me of the early 2000's right after the Royal Bank Cup.

The difference is, Mike Reagan is a seasoned and respected coach and I feel he will be able to right the ship and get his team to rebound.

Humboldt scored 4 times in the first,  and opened up a quick 5-0 lead early in the second before Alec Malo scored his third of the year on the PP.

The Broncos kept coming and made it 7-1 after two periods.

Flin Flon did come out and play a decent third and ended up scoring two more from Lemyre and Shayde Peterson who picked up his first with just over 5 minutes remaining.

I thought Peterson played very well in his first game this season and I love how he drives to the net and deserved his first goal of the year.

JP Mella got his first start of the year, surrendering 4 goals on 21 shots in the first and I thought he didn't get a lot of support. I thought he played quite well and couldn't be faulted on any of the goals.

Jacob Delorme came in relief and gave up 5 goals on 30 shots and was also under seige for most of the night.

The Bomber power play continues to look good, going 2 for 5 and is number one in the league at 36.4 %.

Flin Flon still have a good record to start the year at 3-1 and will get right back on the ice today at the Showcase in Warman.

The Bombers play Weynurn tonight at 8 pm, MB time and will face the Battleford Stars tomorrow at 2, MB time.

Our next broadcast of Flin Flon Bomber hockey will be this Saturday when the Nipawin Hawks come to town.
