Second Place Showdown

It should be another electric atmosphere as the Flin Flon Bombers return to the Whitney Forum to host the Battleford Stars in a pair of games this weekend.

Flin Flon is red hot , putting their 7 game winning streak on the line tonight. What makes that stat even more impressive as 6 of those wins have come on the road.

The Bomber offense has been firing on all cylinders all year, and now it looks like they have been able to make some adjustments to their defensive part of the game.

On this 7 game win streak Flin Flon has out scored their opponents 31-15 and have an amazing +55 goal differential to lead the league.

Melfort is second at +38.

This will be the third meeting of the year between these two teams since November the 16th and 17th in Battleford.

They split the two games in Battleford with the Stars winning the first game 3-1 and the Bombers winning the re-match 5-4.

We always hear about how deep and how competitive this league is but this season seems to be one of the most competitive I can remember.

Nipawin remains first overall with 62 points, then you have Kindersley with 57 points and Flin Flon, Melfort and Battleford all tied with 56 for fourth.

Humboldt is right behind with 55. I think we can say the playoffs have already begun.

The Bombers have fine tuned the line-up adding forward Cade Kowalski, goalie Gabriel Waked and defenseman Jack Michell and look very dangerous for the stretch drive.

Ethan Daniels has also returned to the lineup and will play his first game of the season tonight. Daniels is a player who works very hard and should be a nice addition to the PK unit which is already one of the best in the league.

Offensively Flin Flon is led by Nate Hooper and Brandson Hein, who are fourth and fifth in league scoring and have combined for 125 points. The secondary scoring is also very strong with Daylan Marchi, Calvon Boots , Donavan Houle and Cade Kowalski all having banner seasons.

Congratulations to Crystopher Collin on being named the SJHL Player Of The Week for collecting 8 points in his last 4 games.

Collin looks like he has regained his confidence and looks like his old self again and will be counted on heavilly down the stretch.

Don't let the cold weather scare you, make your way out to the Whitney Forum to watch two premiere teams this weekend. 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com will have the call for Saturday's game.
