Broncos Slip Past Bombers

The Flin Flon Bombers picked up a valuable point in kicking off a 4 game in 5 night road trip last night in Humboldt, dropping a 3-2 game in the shoot out to the Broncos.

The Bombers overcame a two goal deficit when Brandson Hein scored his team leading 11th of the season on the powerplay midway through the second period. Caleb Moretz continued his electric play so far this year when he tied the game with a short handed goal late in the third.

OT would settle nothing so Flin Flon would go to the shootout for their second straight game. The Bronco's Owen Guenter was the only player to find the back of the net with Collin, Moretz and Boots all coming up empty for the Bombers with their chances.

The Broncos out shot the Bombers 37-27 while Flin Flon went 1 for 5 on the PP, and Humboldt went 0 for 5.

Pierce Diamond continued his fine play between the pipes stopping 34 shots.

With last night's point, the Bombers were able to leap frog Melfort for second in the Sherwood Division with 12 points. The Mustangs do have two games in hand.

The road trip will continue tonight in Notre Dame with the Hounds sitting fourth in the Global Ag Risk Solutions Division at 3-6. Game time is 9pm MB time.

No broadcast tonight but don't forget we will have Saturday and Sunday's broadcasts from Weyburn and Estevan. Saturday is an 8:30 start time, and Sunday is 7.
