Winter Games Wrap Up In Thompson

The Manitoba Winter Games wrapped up in Thompson this weekend, and the host community did a wonderful job hosting the event for a second time.

 

Final medal standings were : Winnipeg Gold- 156 total medals, Winnipeg Blue- 108, East 83, West 54, South 53 and Team North 21 including 7 Gold.

 

Flin Flon athletes did very well with the Flin Flon Aqua Jets picking up a number of medals in the pool.

 

Jordan Gorrell picked up two Bronze in the 100 Metre Backstroke and 100 Metre Individual Medley.

 

Connnor Brown won a Silver in the 200 Mixed Metre Relay and a Bronze in the Freestyle Relay.

 

Other members of the Flin Flon Aqua Jets that competed were: Madison Campbell, Savannah Thurston, Eli Plamondon, Brennen Sapergia Green, Dax Lawrence and Cory Lane.

 

In Boys Bantam Hockey Team North beat Team South 7-6 for the Bronze. Flin Flon's Justin Lies was on the team and had two assists in four games.

 

In Girls Bantam Hockey, Team North lost the Bronze Medal game to Winnipeg Gold 3-2 in OT. Flin Flon's Joie Simon, the youngest  player on the team had 3 assists in 5 games and played very well.

 

Flin Flon also had a number of athletes compete in gymnastics including coach Casey Ranks, Shayna Mucha, Navea Simard, Grace Dubinak and Shonte Church. All athletes were able to pick up personal best scores.
