Bombers Mount Comeback

The Flin Flon Bombers were able to over come a two goal deficit and fought back to win their 7th road game of the season last night in Melville, 4-3 in over time.

Melville built up a 2-0 lead after one on goals from Bentz and Eisler.

All Bombers in the second,  as Marchi would score his 12th and Nate Hooper would add his team leading 20th of the year to tie the game at 2 after 2.

Flin Flon actually took the lead in the third when Marchi scored his second of the night, firing a beautiful shot top corner on Brandon Wells.

That held up til the 12 minute mark when Foster would tie the game on the powerplay. Both goalies shut the door for the rest of regulation, and the Bombers would go to extra time for the second straight night.

Flin Flon would not be denied and Caleb Moretz who has already scored some big goals this season, would end the game with an unassisted goal with a minute and a half remaining in extra time.

Great start  for the Bombers who take 3 out of a possible 4 points so far on this 4 game road trip.

More importantly, they will give themselves a little more breathing room for 9th overall, with a 4 point lead on the Mills. Both teams have 4 games remaining on the season.

Final shots last night favoured Flin Flon 37-29 and the Bombers were 0 for 3 on the pp, and Melville went 1 for 5.

Brenden Newton was a big factor again last night,  and with his team trailing 2-0 early in the game made several key saves to keep Flin Flon in it and was the best player on the ice.

The Bomber record stands at 21-25-3-5 and will enjoy a day off before resuming the trip in Notre Dame Friday and Estevan Saturday.

Both these games will be broadcast on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com.
