Hawks Gain Revenge

The Flin Flon Bombers were hoping to carry their momentum from Saturday's dramatic overtime win against Nipawin into last night's rematch at the Cage.

The Nipawin Hawks had other ideas and struck twice before the game was even four minutes old. Daven Smith and Jake Tremblay were able to get to Bomber netminder Colten Lancaster early and controlled the game from beginning to end.

With a 2-0 lead in the second,  the Hawks struck twice more on a pair of goals from vetern forward Michael Grant and put the Bombers in a big hole 4-0 after two.

Nipawin put the icing on the cake and made it 5-0 early in the third, when newly acquired Christian Bosa scored right off the faceoff for his first in a Hawk uniform.

The Bombers did get one to spoil Jake Anthony's shut out bid when Calvon Boots would score his second in as many games,  firing a nice shot from the high slot for his 7th of the year mid-way through the final period.

Nipawin rolled to the 5-1 win and remain very good at home with their 11th win in 13 games. The Bomber road woes continue and are now 1-9-0-1 away from the Whitney Forum.

Final shots were 34-24 in favour of Nipawin and the two teams were a combined 0 for 13 on the PP.

The Bombers go back to work this weekend when they host the Humboldt Broncos in a pair of games Friday and Saturday. The Broncos will be a good test with their 37 points so far this season as they are battling with Battleford and Notre Dame in a very tough Olympic Buildings Division.

Humboldt won the only encounter 6-5 back on October the 11th in Humboldt. 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com will have Saturday's broadcast.

Congratulations to Flin Flon's Crystopher Collin on being selected one of two SJHL'ers  to make Canada West for the upcoming World JR.A Challenge coached by Bomber bench boss Mike Reagan.

Collin is having a great season with 23 points in 24 games including 14 goals. Battlefords defenseman Levi Kleiboer was the other player selected.

The weekend set will be the Bombers final two home games before Christmas, so let's have some big crowds out before Flin Flon go's on their big road trip to hit the Christmas break.
