Bombers Blank Hawks 4-0

Greyson Reitmeier's 24th of the season was all the offense the Bombers needed as they bounced back from a 7-3 loss at the Whitney Forum Tuesday, to rally for a 4-0 win at the Cage in Nipawin last night.

Zimmer (19), Lavallee (24) and Lesko (21) all added insurance goals in the third period as the Bombers beat the Hawks for the 6th time in 7 meetings this season.

Zac Robidoux only had to make 18 saves for his 5th shutout of the year and 10th of his career.

Flin Flon managed to beat Kristian Stead 4 times on 32 shots and are once again in sole possession of first place in the Sherwood Division and second overall. Nipawin still has a game in hand.

The Bombers improve to 35-13-2-3 while the Hawks fall to 35-14-2-1 and winners of 14 out of their last 16 games.

Flin Flon made adjustments after their 7-3 loss to Nipawin on Tuesday and did an excellent job not allowing Nipawin to get a lot of good offensive chances in tight on Robidoux.

Mike Reagan had this to say on last night's CFAR Post Game Show. " I was very happy with our response tonight, to be able to come into this building which is a tough place to play just like the Whitney Forum. To not only win but get a shutout and only give up 18 shots was impressive. We played great defensively,  not giving up one odd man rush and I thought that was key to the victory. A big part of the games was to kill off all those powerplays in the second period , kudos to our penalty kill  and Robidoux was very good. Your best penalty killer has got to be your goalie and Robidoux was tonight."

Flin Flon finished up 1 for 4 on the PP, while Nipawin went 0 for 7.

A great crowd in Nipawin with 736 announced and many of the fans wearing Maroon and White. This game definately had a playoff feel and you get the sense that these two teams are on a collision course to meet some where in the post season and would make one great league final.

This game speaks volumes about the Bombers character in not only winning the game, but how they won it.

The Bombers have 5 games remaining in the regular season and 4 of those will be played at the Whitney Forum.

Flin Flon will host Humboldt and Melfort this weekend, before a home and home with Laronge March the 3rd and 4th before closing out the season with the Hawks at the Whitney Forum March the 7th.

The outdoor classic which was supposed to be played on Ross Lake today has been postboned til next weekend. Our next broadcast of Bomber hockey will be next Saturday's game against Melfort with Jamie Smalley on the call.

It all starts with the Murray GM Coach's Show at 7:15 and play by play at 7:30.
