Manitoba’s online organ and tissue donor registry has celebrated its second anniversary.  An organ donation physician with Transplant Manitoba’s Gift of Life program Dr. Faisal Siddiqui encourages you to visit the site and join the 9751 people who have committed to donate.  He says unfortunately the need is much higher than the supply.  He says currently waiting on their list are about 250 people waiting for a kidney transplant and these people are being supported with machines like dialysis to keep them going until they can get a kidney.  He adds there’s about 20 people who are waiting for lung transplants in the province, about the same number of people waiting for liver transplants and on top of that there’s people waiting for heart transplants and other organs.
