Support for upcoming events was highlighted at the Flin Flon and District Chamber of Commerce meeting yesterday

At their last meeting the Chamber was asked to consider supporting an opening ceremony for the Trout Festival at Pioneer Square on June 25th along with Hudbay and the City of Flin Flon.  The City has shown an interested in the idea as has Hudbay as well as the Flin Flon Arts Council.  If approved it will be a family event including a barbeque and entertainment.

             

The Chamber will move their first general meeting in March from the 11th to Wednesday, March 5th with speakers from members of the Committee for Future Generations speaking on concerns about hosting a nuclear waste storage facility in northern Saskatchewan.

             

The Recycling Center’s Administrator Deb Odegaard advised the Chamber they are now recycling household batteries that should be put in a plastic bag separate from other recycling when brought to the Center.  Information on what batteries can be recycled is available on the website www.calltorecycle.ca.
