Expect our bus service to continue

Flin Flon City Council received seven letters encouraging them to ensure the city bus service continues. Many of the writers note they cannot afford to operate a vehicle so they depend on the bus service to get to and from work and to other services around the community.

Mayor George Fontaine says the letters have a common thread in that the writers are assuming the bus service is ending.  He says the contract with the current provider Northern Bus Lines ends at the end of August but Council is looking at what options are open to them, who can provide the service and what kind of service the city needs.  He says don’t assume there will not be a bus service, assume there will be one as he and Council feel there is a need for the service in the community and they will do what they can to see there will be a service although it may not be the same as we have now. Administrator Mark Kolt says Council is looking at options but cannot say at this time whether those options involve the present service provider or what other options are being considered.
