New doctors and other improvements are being made to our health services

The CEO for the Northern Health Region Helga Bryant told the Flin Flon and District Chamber of Commerce last night the future looks bright for our Region and locally.

Bryant says locally they recently opened the new EMS Service Center and ambulance garage and have been approved for an upgrade to the General Hospital Emergency Room. She says they have formed a board to look at the best was to take advantage of the upgrade and they will include input from user groups and the public who have experience in using the ER.  She says they have also been approved for a safety and security upgrade at the Personal Care Home.

Bryant adds they have two new physicians coming to the community in mid to late March who are committed to being here for at least four years and have two nurse practitioners starting in the spring.

She also noted they have a contract with a consulting firm to help organize clinical services across the region and to find out which services can best fit into each community.  They will then look at improving transportation services between communities so all people can take advantage of clinical services offered in each community across the region. Bryant also mentioned they have welcomed a new member to the Region Board, Gerard Jennissen of Cranberry Portage.
