Two mountain climbers from the flat prairies encountered altitude problems

Two former northern Manitoba women who now live in Winnipeg Teresa Lynne Gibson and Beverley Watson were climbing Mount Kilimanjaro this week to raise money for Flin Flon’s Women’s Safe Haven that is run by their sister Colleen Arnold.  Arnold says they were working towards the summit Wednesday night and developed problems when unfortunately altitude sickness got to them.  She says Bev stayed at Keebo Hut at 47 hundred meters and Teresa did attempt to make the summit but turned around at about 51 hundred meters.  Arnold says they’re back at the hotel today and are feeling fine.

The climb has raised just over 26 hundred dollars for the Safe Haven.
