A lot of people got home safely over the holiday season

Operation Red Nose wrapped up another season of getting people and their vehicles home safely.  It started November 29th and ran every Friday and Saturday in December as well as New Year’s Eve. The Rotary Clubs Committee Co-chair Ted Hewitt reports they did a total of 223 rides up from last year and even though it’s a free service they did accept donations.  He says this year the users of the service donated close to 35 hundred dollars and with our community’s generous corporations and other sources they expect to collect between 12 and 13 thousand dollars this year.  He says all of these funds stay within the community and are donated towards children’s activities and organized sports.

Hewitt thanked all the volunteers who helped out this year noting there were 135 volunteers with some coming out more than once.
