A Denare Beach resident has received a special award

Norma Barr recently received a Saskatchewan Celebrating Seniors Volunteer Award at a ceremony held in Regina.  Barr says the award was in the Heritage and Culture category and was mainly for her work at the museum in Denare Beach. She says when you look at the Northern Gateway Museum culture and heritage are there and she’s been involved with the museum for 22 years.  She says they’re fortunate in the fact they have a lot of seniors in Denare Beach but they also have a great part of the First Nation there and their museum consists of two areas, one building is really for the First Nations and the other part is for the seniors.

Barr adds she is really pleased with the award and adds she had the privilege of sitting beside the guest speaker Lloyd Robertson during the awards banquet.
