Crown lands were part of discussions with the Premier

At Tuesday night’s city council meeting Mayor George Fontaine reported Council met with Premier Greg Selinger earlier in the day and says he appreciates the number of times the Premier has visited the community and his willingness to discuss issues including crown lands the city is trying to get from the province including the park area on Kingsway Boulevard where residential lots could be developed and the Armories site.  He says it would be nice to be able to have a business come in and develop the armories property. The Premier said they had also discussed the possibility the city would annex the cottage areas outside of Flin Flon and said it is up to the city to decide whether or not to start the annexation process.

In other news Council took under advisement a suggestion by Blair Sapergia that they purchase their own backhoe to save money on renting one for the many projects done over the summer.  Mayor Fontaine said they have considered the idea.  Sapergia also expressed concerns about coyotes around town. Mayor Fontaine said anyone with concerns about coyotes or other wildlife should contact the Conservation office.
