The grand opening of the Denare Beach Waste Water Treatment Plant was held on Friday.  Mayor Carl Lentiwcz says all residents now and into the future will benefit from the upgrade.  He says they can look forward to having a waste water treatment plant that with normal maintenance and capacity upgrades, which will have a price, will be able to serve the community with continued growth for between 35 and 45 years.  He adds this facility has an enhanced processing system that will meet community capacity and regulatory requirements during its life which will benefit the health of the community and the environment.

The 5.2 million dollar project was cost shared with the governments of Canada and Saskatchewan each contributing 734 thousand dollars, the Northern Municipal Trust Account 2.9 million, the Village of Denare Beach 36 thousand and the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation 753 thousand through Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada’s Capital Investment Fund.
