Attendance and Culture Days were highlighted at last night’s school board meeting

In his Superintendents report Blain Veitch told the Flin Flon School Board that a newly developed brochure will be handed out to students early this year regarding the importance of attendance.  One of the division’s goals is to improve attendance.  This brochure outlines the division’s attendance policy, provincial law and tips on how to minimize absences.

Custodial and maintenance staff along with the summer students worked hard over the summer completing capital works projects.

Students in the division will be involved with Culture Days events later this month.  This year’s guest speaker will be David Bouchard who has written more than fifty books for children in English and French.  The former teacher and school principal combines poetry, prose, visual arts and explores the environment, history, traditions and cultures of Canada’s Aboriginal communities.

The board also voted that trustee Murray Skeavington will remain as chair and Karen Yeo will serve as vice-chair for this school year.
